Moshe’s final command: avenge Israel against Midian. Twelve thousand men, led by Pinchas carrying the holy vessels and the tzitz, march out for the last war. Bilaam and the five kings rise into the sky by sorcery — until the tzitz brings them down. And when the smoke clears, even the enemy’s vessels are lifted into holiness through fire and water.
