The doctor looked at him with a grim, cold gaze and said,
โGet ready for a transplant.โ
Fear gripped his bones.
For months already, he had been dealing with pain and suffering, his future no longer certain. Will he even live to see next year? How much longer can he go on like this?
They had hoped his yeshuah would come on its own. But now he stands face to face with the bitter reality:
Get ready for transplant.
What does one do now? What do these fateful words even mean? How does one get ready? How do you find a donor? Can his body even survive the procedure? Will he return to health and to the life that now seems almost impossible?
For the last ten years, ODEH has been walking alongside Jewish patients facing the most complex and difficult journeys – when organs stop working and a transplant becomes necessary, whether kidney, liver, pancreas, heart or more.
It is impossible to imagine, to even put yourself in the shoes of the patients and their loving families, when they hear these devastating words from the doctor. It is unfathomable, the fear that strikes, the confusion and thick fog that engulfs everyone who loves someone who has been told that they need this major, risky procedure if they want to live.
This is where a long road of coordination, advocacy and intensive work begins.
It starts with properly examining the case, determining which hospital is best for treatment in these circumstances, choosing which doctor is the leading specialist for this specific condition, preparing the patient physically and emotionally to undergo the procedure, finding the most suitable donor whose gift of life will beโH be compatible for many years to come – and hundreds of other details involving medical expertise, coordination and advocacy.
And this is ODEH.
For over ten years, ODEH has bsโd succeeded in saving hundreds of Jewish lives from the brink of death, accompanying them with heartfelt compassion and vast medical knowledge, and close relationships with outstanding doctors and hospitals.
When someone comes to ODEH, they are embraced with extraordinary compassion and fierce dedication. At the hospital, they are a case number. Here, every patient is number one. Every individual journey requires a tremendous amount of resources – and every Jewish life is worth it!
From the moment they are told they need a transplant, the moment that complications creep in, through all the stages of the transplant process, and support that continues for years to come as the patient adjusts to post-transplant life.
And now, as so many cholei Yisroel still stand in line, begging for help after hearing the chilling verdict from their doctor to prepare for a transplant, their eyes turn to you:
Help us bring them to that moment when they thank Hashem for ODEH!
Klal Yisroel, letโs answer their call, to ensure that ODEH can continue saving hundreds of lives, so that we can all tell overwhelmed, scared patients,
โYou just get ready for the transplant – weโll take care of everything else.โ
Are you ready for their transplant?
Get ready.
Make sure theyโre ready.
